So do you not have interns?
We have a handful of interns, but we don’t rely on them for the bulk of our labour. Interns at Trembling Void pick the days they want to come in, choose the department they want to learn under, are fed, and are included in our profit-sharing system. They are also able to use company resources (and staff mentorship) to make their own projects. Last updated: Tue, Jun 17 2014 12:27 am EDT
How much does insurance cost?
Liability and “errors and omissions” (which allows us to broadcast a TV show in a world where certain soft-drink companies will drag you through court if someone walks by the camera with a can of their product) will run around $8,000 Last updated: Tue, Jun 17 2014 12:27 am EDT
How much do locations cost?
We need to rent a set-space close to transit (a lot of our crew don’t have cars). Proper studio space where a set can be constructed comes at a premium. The studio in which we shot Kieran Strange’s Tear Down the Wall music video cost us $1000 per day. That will be our biggest locations expense, but fortunately, we are not exclusively shooting in studio. Because we have a lot of public goodwill and people often offer us locations on the cheap - usually for a thank-you and a gift we are hoping to find quiet and accessible locations in the $200 to $500 per day range. We are shooting for 3 to 4 weeks to put that in perspective. Last updated: Tue, Jun 17 2014 12:27 am EDT
How much does it cost to feed your production crew for 3 weeks?
We serve our crew 2-3 meals over the course of a 12 to 18 hour day. At a cost of about $25 per person per day, this adds up to about $21,000. Did we mention that the in-house catering is vegan by default? Fortunately, it turns out that healthy food with lots of whole grains and veggies is cheaper than pizza. What if I don’t live in Vancouver but want the Walk-on role reward or the Acting Workshop reward?
You are definitely still eligible and we would love to host you in this great city. You’ll need to arrange your own travel and accommodations, and we’d be delighted to show you around! Last updated: Tue, Jun 17 2014 1:58 am EDT
When do rewards get mailed out?
Any reward that doesn’t include a digital download or physical copy of the show on DVD will be delivered in September 2014. All others will be delivered after we complete post production in July 2015 Last updated: Tue, Jun 17 2014 12:36 am EDT
What happens if you are not successful in reaching your funding target?
We will need to seek funding from alternative sources. These include a bigger commitment from broadcasters or product placement. We see these options as less desirable because these stakeholders often demand greater creative control over script and creative decisions. We want to keep this a community-based project in which we get to say how our story is told. And if we over achieve on our target to $80,000 we will shoot a special 10-minute fan-written episode starring all of the cast of The Switch. Please like and share our campaign liberally! Will there be non-binary characters?
Yes! One of our main characters is Chris, a non-binary assassin living in a condemned apartment complex. Ze uses ze/zir as zir pronoun set. More non-binary characters may be introduced over the course of the first season. Last updated: Sat, Jun 21 2014 4:05 pm EDT
Where can I buy the rewards offered through the campaign - especially, Gender Neutral Bathroom Stickers and Finding Gender, the trans-kids coloring book?
We will activate our online store on our website, www.welovetheswitch.com after the campaign ends. Note that if you consider that many of the rewards are bundled together there is actually greater value to obtaining the rewards as thanks for a contribution to the Kickstarter today. What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!
The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.
How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
